You say you want more now;
You realize less is more
And more is so damn deep;
As deep as I showed you
And deeper still.

It’s easy to talk about what
You wish for and what you want,
Until you realize that what you want
Has very little to do with what you need.

It’s easy to think you can
Live in this ocean, until
You realize that dinner at Spa
And the weekend in Paris
Are generally out of the question.

Perhaps you ought to stay
In your custom-made world
Where espresso runs freely
And love comes a la carte.

I remember that place where, if
You get real, people stare and
Whisper their gossip behind their
Sushi menus and cosmopolitans
And turn a blind eye to need.

Sure, life was easier then…
But that doesn’t mean it was good.
